symbolic color effects on interior design

In the picture above the designer used green wall color to give the room calm and soothing appearance. the green wall color also appears to recede, making the room to seem larger and cooler. Of all the cool hues(blue, green, and purple), green seems to have the most cool feeling effect. the symbols we associate with cool colors are wind, and water.

The opposite of the the cool colors are warm colors such as red, yellow, and orange. And just like the greens have a receding effect the warm colors have the adverse effect, they make the room feel smaller, or more cozy. And the symbols we associate with warm colors are fire, and the sun

A burst of a single color on just one part of your house may give it a lopsided apperance. On this house, the brightest color is balanced equally on each side.

color association in interior design

As you can see in the image above that the houses are painted over-whelming colors and may be hard to picture having a harmonious effect on each other, but what draws these houses together are the use of at least one color from its neighbor such as the repeated dark red

conceptual dimension of color in interior design

When parents are expecting a child they typically like to know the gender of the baby in order to shop and decorate. After finding out the sex of the baby the interior of the babys nursery is normally blue for a boy or pink for a girl. For centeries these colors have been used to distinguish a boy and a girl without even realizing its comceptual dimension.

Pyhsiological aspect of color in interior design

Dark siding or dark bands of trim will make your house seem smaller, but will draw more attention to detail. Darker shades are best for accenting recesses, while lighter tones will highlight details that project from the wall surface.

addtitive color wheel

When people think of mixing colors they think of blue and red making purple, red and yellow making orange and blue and yellow making green, but they don't think of the additive color wheel which is normally used in electronics such as computers, televisions, and cameras. The additive colors primary colors consist of red, green and blue. When red and green are mixed is creates yellow, green and blue makes cyan, and blue and red makes magenta
